ORLANDO, FL (August 29, 2011) – Jeffrey B. Jones, an attorney at Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has been appointed to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission of Florida. Jones was selected by Governor Rick Scott, and will serve a three-year term. A shareholder in the Orlando office of Littler, Jones’ practice focuses on employment discrimination, harassment and related litigation and management training, advice and counsel.

The Commission is a separate government entity charged with providing Governor Scott with a list of possible appointments to the County and Circuit courts for Orange and Osceola County, Florida. When vacancies occur on the Commission, the openings are filled through a selection process. After applicants are screened and interviewed, the Commission recommends candidates to the governor for appointment. In this capacity, Jones will be serving on the Ninth Circuit Commission encompassing Orange and Osceola County.
An experienced trial attorney, Jones has handled numerous proceedings before federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies. He represents management in cases alleging violation of federal and state discrimination, harassment, and preferential treatment laws. In addition to his work defending against litigation, Jones also conducts preventative training and seminars on a variety of workplace legal issues. Jones is a staple in the Orlando legal community and his vast body of work includes more than 30 jury trials. Jones is an active member of many professional organizations, including the National Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and Florida Blue Key, and is the former Vice President of the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association.
Jones received his J.D. from the University of Florida and his B.S. from Florida State University.
