NEW YORK, NY (May 20, 2010) – Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, announced today the addition of Barbara E. Hoey, a widely respected litigator, to its New York City office.
Hoey has a broad range of experience, representing employers in virtually every type of employment claim, from single-plaintiff cases to class actions. As a litigator, she has won numerous trials involving claims arising under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the New York Whistleblower Law, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. She has also successfully defended class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Title VII.
She has advised clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including difficult terminations, workplace harassment, internal investigations and layoffs. Her experience also includes assisting companies with formulation of personnel policies, wage and hour compliance, and union organizing. She has represented a number of health care institutions, advising on the unique regulatory and compliance issues faced in that industry.
Hoey also speaks extensively and has been quoted in many prominent publications, commenting on such diverse topics as violence in the workplace and protected activity under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Hoey received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, cum laude and her B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, magna cum laude. She is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
