Ransomware attacks, phishing scams, malicious insiders, and human error are putting organizations at risk now more than ever while remote work and the explosion of AI are only exacerbating these threats. At the same time, new data protection laws and regulations in Asia and elsewhere are expanding business's obligations to protect all personal data, including HR data. With boards of directors and senior corporate leadership focusing their attention on combating these data security risks, in-house employment counsel and HR professionals must be ready to contribute to their organization’s overall risk-reduction strategy and to initiate an effective organizational response when (not if) data security incidents occur.

This in-person-only Data Breach Workshop will allow participants to work through true-to-life data breach scenarios that impact HR. For each scenario, the co-chair of Littler’s Privacy and Data Security Practice Group will help participants identify the steps that HR and legal teams could take to reduce the risk and should take to address legal compliance, employee relations, and preservation of business reputation. By the workshop’s conclusion, participants should be better able to support senior leadership in developing and implementing their corporate data security strategy and to respond more effectively when a data breach occurs.
