SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 22, 2012) – Margaret A. Keane, formerly a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, has joined Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, as a shareholder in its San Francisco office. Signaling Littler’s continued growth nationally and internationally, Keane’s arrival comes on the heels of a number of recent additions to Littler’s expanding global practice, including the arrival of Michael Lotito to its Northern California office from Jackson Lewis.
“Margaret is a top flight lawyer with tremendous experience in the global arena, and we are excited to have her as the newest member of the Littler team here in San Francisco,” said Jennifer Walt, San Francisco office managing shareholder. “Her superb legal skill, leadership and international capabilities will be instrumental as we continue to grow our presence around the globe.”
Prior to joining Littler, Keane was a litigation partner and co-chair of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s global Employment Dispute Resolution Practice. She represents employers in class action matters involved in alleged violations of state and federal civil rights and anti-discrimination laws, as well as wage and hour litigation. Keane has defended and counseled employers on a broad range of matters ranging from discrimination and workplace privacy to social media in the workplace and the theft of trade secrets, among others.
“This is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to starting the next phase of my career here at Littler,” added Keane. “Littler’s labor and employment practice has a depth and breadth of expertise that is second to none and I am delighted to be joining the firm. In addition to its strengths in representing clients in classic discrimination matters, Littler has state-of-the-art knowledge and resources that will enable me to best serve clients in a variety of hot button areas, including the challenges of employee mobility and social media issues in today's workplace.”
Keane’s practice also focuses in the area of corporate transactions, including conducting due diligence and drafting employment, consulting and severance agreements, along with other pre-and post-closing integration activities. She regularly works with employers to resolve sensitive separation issues and she has advised multi-national companies on cross-border solutions to various employment challenges. Additionally, she has substantial success achieving client objectives through alternative dispute resolution, particularly in multiparty and class employment claims. She is a mediator for the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.
A sought-after speaker, she has presented on employment issues to such groups as the American Conference Institute, Practicing Law Institute and Strafford CLE.
Keane received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law (1986) and her B.A. from Boston University (1981).
