BigLaw Attys Praise High Court's Gay Marriage Rulings

In an article on the significance of the U.S. Supreme Court's long-awaited decisions in two same-sex marriage cases, Littler’s Susan Katz Hoffman comments on the ruling in Windsor v. United States that the section of the Defense of Marriage Act that required federal laws to ignore same-sex marriages that are legally entered into under an applicable state law is unconstitutional. She notes that the decision “will have a substantial impact on the design and operation of benefit plans,” but also leaves many open questions.
