As a member of the Littler CaseSmart – Charges™ team based in Florida, John Dempsey is responsible for handling charges from investigation to conclusion. He works on client-dedicated service teams, focusing on handling administrative agency charges. He investigates charge allegations, reviews pertinent documents, interviews key witnesses, and provides clients an assessment of the risks associated with the charge. In partnership with the client, he defends the charge by drafting persuasive position statements and responses to the agency’s requests for information.

John previously served as head of the Litigation and Employment Law group at the world’s largest vacation ownership company where he was responsible for all litigation and employment law matters affecting the company. He personally handled mediations involving the EEOC and state FEPAs as well as individual claimants.

He has worked as an EEO investigation specialist at an auto parts distributor where he focused on investigating and responding to charges of discrimination. John also served as an EEO investigator at a large, public university, where he focused on investigating and issuing determinations on complaints of harassment and retaliation under university policy. Previously, John worked in private practice as an associate and shareholder representing management in all aspects of employment law, including representation at trial and on appeal.

In law school, John served as an articles editor for The George Washington University Law Review and was a Dean’s Fellow – Adjunct Legal Research and Writing Instructor.
