NY Poised To Give Employers Leeway On Wage Deductions

Littler attorney Bruce Millman is quoted in this article about pending legislation in the state of New York that will expand an employer's ability to make voluntary deductions from employee wages. Millman provides commentary on employers' reaction to the new law, stating, "In response to the DOL's recent interpretation of the permissible deductions, specifically the limitations on deductions for overpayments, loans and advances on vacation and so forth, many employers had begun to drastically change their prior employment policies, often to the detriment of employees."
