The Littler Learning Group invites you to join the author of California’s new anti-bullying training requirement, California Assemblywoman, Lorena Gonzalez, Littler attorneys and employment law professionals, in an exclusive round table event to discuss the development and implementation objectives of the new law. Assembly Bill 2053 is the first proactive anti-bullying law in the United States, and now requires inclusion of "abusive conduct" content as part of the mandatory, bi-annual anti-harassment training conducted in this state.
We will discuss exactly how the bill aims to address workplace bullying by educating managers about prevention instead of imposing punitive measures, as well as the opportunity organizations now have to combat workplace bullying on dual fronts: managers can develop the skills and increased awareness necessary to help avoid bullying behavior in the first place; and impacted employees will find greater support in speaking up about harmful coworker behavior that may not otherwise be protected (e.g., because it is not based on race, color, sex, national origin or other “protected categories”). Participants will also have an opportunity to discuss recommended approaches to complying with the anti-bullying training requirement, and will be able to review the Littler Learning Group’s curriculum design modeled to meet the requirement.
