This is a reminder that, effective December 31, 2013, the minimum wage in New York will increase to $8.00 per hour. On December 31, 2014, it will increase to $8.75 per hour; on December 31, 2015, it will increase to $9.00 per hour, or the federal rate if greater than the state rate.
In addition, beginning on December 31, 2013, New York employers must pay exempt executive and administrative employees at least $600 per week – up from a rate of $543.75 per week – inclusive of board, lodging, or other allowances and facilities. Effective December 31, 2014, the rate will increase to $656.25, and effective December 31, 2105, the rate will increase to $675, inclusive of board, lodging, or other allowances and facilities.
The NY Department of Labor has issued new rules on uniform maintenance rates and on allowances for meals and lodging, which differ depending on the type of employee.
