Minimum Monthly Wage for 2018

As of January 1, 2018, Decree-Law no. 156/2017 came into effect, which establishes and updates the amount of the minimum monthly wage for the year 2018, from EUR 558 to EUR 580.

Law no. 14/2018, of March 19, made substantial changes to the transfer of undertaking or going concern regime, including: (i) employee’s right of opposition to the transfer of the employment contract; (ii) possibility of termination of the employment contract by the employee with severance pay; (iii) disclosure and information duties regarding the transfer, relative to the Labour Supervising Authorities, the employees and/or their representative bodies; (iv) consultation with the employees’ representative bodies may be required; and (v) joint liability between the transferor and the purchaser in respect to the employees’ entitlements arising from the breach or termination of the employment contract, as well as the corresponding social contributions due until the date of the transfer, assignment or reversal, during the following two years. This law entered into force on March 20, 2018.
