Updated October 27, 2012: Due to the forecast of severe weather, the DOL has announced that the ERISA Advisory Council meeting scheduled for October 30-31 will be held on November 26-27. The location will be posted on the agency’s webpage as the date approaches.
The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans (“ERISA Advisory Council”) has announced that it will hold a two-day public meeting on October 30 and 31, 2012 to finalize and present its recommendations on issues affecting retirement and life insurance plans. Specifically, the ERISA Advisory Council intends to issue recommendations on the following topics: (1) current challenges and best practices concerning beneficiary designations in retirement and life insurance plans; (2) examining income replacement during retirement years in a defined contribution plan system; and (3) managing disability risks in an environment of individual responsibility.
The October 30 meeting will be held in C5521 Room 4, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20210 from 1 p.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. The October 31 meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m., with a break for lunch. The morning meeting will take place in Room 1, while the afternoon session will take place in Room S-2508.
