AUSTIN, Texas (January 16, 2024) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added Tara Porterfield as senior counsel in its Austin office. Porterfield joins from Vinson & Elkins and brings more than 20 years of employment litigation experience.

Porterfield focuses her practice exclusively on employment law litigation and counseling. She represents employers in disputes involving wage and hour issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employment contracts, discrimination and other employment law violations, in state and federal trial and appellate courts in multiple jurisdictions.
Additionally, Porterfield regularly advises corporate clients on issues involving employment relationships, such as hiring, wage and hour concerns, leaves of absence, allegations of misconduct or discrimination, and termination. She is highly skilled in drafting and enforcing dispute resolution programs, arbitration agreements, handbooks and policies, and employment and severance agreements.
Porterfield is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She earned her J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law, and her B.A. from Wesleyan University.
