Littler Participating in Annual Food from the Bar Campaign to Fight Against Hunger

WASHINGTON, D. C. (May 7, 2014) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, is participating in the Washington, D. C. legal community’s annual fundraising campaign, Food From The Bar, in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). The month-long initiative, which was organized to assist those at risk of hunger in the Washington metro area, is being held from April 28, 2014–May 30, 2014 and marks the sixth and largest effort by the CAFB to date.

“We are proud to join the CAFB in this invaluable program,” said Alison N. Davis, managing shareholder of Littler’s Washington, D. C. office. “Littler has always valued the community-minded efforts of its lawyers and staff. As the firm grows throughout the Washington region, it is gratifying to be able to provide assistance to those in the greatest need.”

As part of the campaign, dozens of D. C.-area law firms, law schools and other legal professionals will be competing to raise funds and food. Since 2008, the Washington legal community has raised enough to support the equivalent of 1 million meals. With every $10 raised, the CAFB is able to distribute 25 meals to those in need. Additionally, ninety-two cents out of every dollar donated supports local hunger relief programs.

Commenting on the legal community’s involvement, Nancy E. Roman, CAFB President and CEO, said, “We are grateful to the local legal community for this important undertaking. As school ends, hunger begins for many D. C. youngsters who depend on free and reduced school lunch programs. Food From The Bar will enable the food bank to expand summer programs to fill the gap for children and their families.”
