NEW YORK, NY (March 10, 2014) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, deepens its Latin American capabilities with the addition of Renata Neeser, a global employment law specialist. A licensed practitioner in both the U.S. and Brazil and previously an attorney in White & Case’s International Labor and Employment Practice, Neeser joins the New York office as a shareholder with extensive expertise representing multinational employers on cross-border human resources issues.
“We have a strong footprint in Latin America and are continuing to grow the firm’s presence in the region,” said Peter Susser, chair of the firm’s International Employment Law Practice Group. “Having an experienced, licensed practitioner from Brazil will further enhance Littler’s capabilities to serve multinational employers throughout the Latin American countries. Neeser’s on-the-ground, cross-border labor and employment experience brings a unique perspective that will be invaluable to our clients doing business in Brazil and beyond. Neeser also helps provide us with a strong bridge to our many, and growing, connections with Brazil legal practitioners.”
With experience practicing in both the U.S. and Brazil, Neeser provides comprehensive labor and employment solutions to multinational clients. She counsels on a wide variety of international employment law matters, including the local applicability and implementation requirements of global policies, such as codes of conduct, ethics, discrimination and diversity policies. She also works with international clients on matters involving outsourcing, expatriation and employee classification issues. Additionally, Neeser coordinates all employment matters that arise as a result of restructuring and lay-offs, and she has extensive experience in multi-country projects in connection with transaction deals, including in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Particularly noteworthy is Neeser’s vast experience on Brazilian labor and employment issues, and her counseling of clients on Brazilian employment-related litigation.
Neeser said she was drawn to Littler because of the firm’s international growth, exclusive focus on employment and labor law, and innovative approach to client service. “Littler’s ability to serve the wide-ranging needs of domestic and global employers is extremely impressive,” she said. “I look forward to leveraging the firm’s growing capabilities in Latin America as I continue to develop my practice in the region and globally.”
Bruce Millman, the New York office managing shareholder, said they were “thrilled” to have Renata join them. “We look forward to the valued insight and counsel she will provide to Littler’s clients in New York and across the globe,” he said. “Her experience advising clients in Latin America and strong connections to the international community complements our robust team of attorneys representing multinational companies.”
Neeser is a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce in New York and previously served as a vice chair of the American Bar Association’s International Employment Law Committee. In 2007, she was honored by the Brazilian President of the Republic and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for her civic merits. Neeser was recognized with the medal of the Order of Rio Branco and is currently ranked as a knight. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, Brazil and speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
The addition of Neeser reinforces Littler’s rising stronghold in the delivery of labor and employment solutions in Latin America and follows recent expansions in strategic markets throughout the U.S. and globally. Littler’s services are provided through Littler Global, comprised of the leading labor and employment law firms in Puerto Rico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador. Littler also has offices throughout Venezuela and Mexico.
