In this article, Donald Benson and Gina Cook of Littler's Atlanta office examine the nature and threat of the pandemic occurrence of a disease such as avian influenza and its possible effects on Tennessee business operations. Benson and Cook then discuss pertinent federal and Tennessee state regulations and guidelines including the "State of Tennessee Department of Health Pandemic Influenza Response Plan." They also highlight major legal and logistical issues on which counsel should advise business clients in an effort to ensure that they are properly prepared for a possible pandemic.
