Lisa A. Bolen is a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team and is based in Virginia. As a research attorney for single plaintiff litigation matters, she performs multi-jurisdictional legal research and analyzes issues on a variety of legal topics; writes concise, objective summaries of complex legal issues; and provides recommendations for strategic action by clients faced with employment litigation challenges. At the outset of each litigated matter, she prepares an Initial Case Dossier, which provides clients insight into the legal landscape of the case.
Lisa has represented employers in all aspects of employment law and has experience handling claims involving discrimination arising under:
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
As a former career federal court law clerk, Lisa has significant experience with all aspects of employment litigation. She served as a career law clerk to Hon. Edmund A. Sargus, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Previously, she was a term law clerk for Hon. Norah McCann King and Hon. Terence P. Kemp of the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She participated in numerous jury trials and settlement negotiations of employment actions. In addition, she has extensive experience in the area of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation and claims for social security disability benefits. A military spouse, Lisa's husband is retired from the U.S. Navy. She also has two nephews, one serving in the U.S. Navy and one serving as a Marine Corps Aviator.
