Overview

Ian G. Robertson’s employment law practice focuses primarily on defense of wage and hour class actions and California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) cases. Ian combines his litigation skills with his prior experience working with information technology systems and financial accounting to provide comprehensive analysis and strategic options to employers facing what is often substantial potential exposure.

In addition to class action and PAGA work, Ian’s practice includes an emphasis on preventative measures for employers such as hiring, performance management, termination, training programs, handbook preparation, and compliance counseling. Ian’s practice spans numerous industries, including retail sales, hospitality, construction, manufacturing, government agencies, and healthcare organizations.

Ian regularly assists clients with proactive advice and in litigation for claims relating to wrongful termination, employee discipline, unpaid wages and overtime, bonuses and regular rate calculations, meal periods and rest breaks, employee expense reimbursements, alternative workweek scheduling, misclassification, unfair competition, trade secrets, arbitration, whistleblower, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, class action, reductions in force, commission pay plans, executive compensation, breach of contract, embezzlement, and other employment-related issues.

Previously, Ian worked as an accountant in the financial auditing wing of one of the world’s largest international accounting firms. He also lived in Denmark for a number of years, where he learned to speak Danish fluently.
