For many companies, the most sensitive information they handle is the personal information of their employees. This data ranges from health information and performance evaluations to identifiers that could be used for identity theft. Moreover, increasingly strict data protection laws regulate this data in most countries across APAC and the world, creating risks unique to the employment context. For example, routine workforce monitoring in one country may violate the law in others, and each country requires a slightly different privacy notice. To manage the global workforce in an efficient manner, multinationals must develop an approach that can be applied consistently across global offices, despite the often-maddening differences in applicable legal requirements.
In this session, Littler’s employment and data protection attorneys discuss developing a framework for human resources data protection around APAC and the world, along with addressing significant variations and risks by country and region. In addition, the panel will discuss the surge in artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, new AI laws and how to manage workplace AI within your company’s data protection framework.
