Annette Gifford is Counsel on the Class Action Counsel team and is based in New York. As a brief writer assigned to class, collective, mass, and representative actions, including PAGA matters, Annette formulates and executes briefing strategy. She evaluates and selects legal authority that supports the facts and circumstances of each case and prepares substantive briefs and motions, including complex dispositive motions, opposition to class certification, motions to compel arbitration, mediation briefs, and other strategic briefing.
Annette has been practicing law for more than 20 years, in state and federal courts. Prior to joining Littler in 2023, Annette worked for a boutique labor and employment firm and her work there included class actions and single plaintiff cases, and encompassed areas including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, ADA, retaliation, and False Claim Act matters. She previously was with a global law firm, first as a summer clerk and then as an associate in the Business Litigation group. Representative areas of work included government investigations, environmental, trade secrets, real estate, securities, and others. She has extensive experience with motion practice, including dispositive motions, and has successfully argued appeals before several federal circuit courts.
During law school, Annette was managing editor for the Cornell International Law Journal and completed a Law Guardian externship. She also participated in the Cornell Youth & Work Program as a research assistant during her undergraduate education.
