Women continue to heroically take on the primary role of family caregivers, often resulting in a greater need for leaves of absences. Employers are increasingly looking for ways to retain and recruit women employees, especially after the historic losses of women employees during the pandemic. Generous leave policies, including expanded access to employee benefits, are becoming an important recruiting and retention tool. However, leaves of absence compliance and benefit administration requirements provide a host of legal and administrative considerations. Caitlin Emmett and Anne Sanchez LaWer provide an update on California and Federal leave laws and discuss how to avoid leave related benefit challenges, including a brief discussion of the new COBRA subsidy requirements.
Littler formed the Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) in 2008. The initiative focuses on developing and retaining women leaders, because Littler values the importance of having women leaders at every level of the firm. As the labor and employment law environment changes, WLI is here to make sure Littler is able to handle whatever the future brings.
