Effective May 1, 2019, contractors who apply for or seek to renew their New Jersey public works contractor registration face a new and potentially game-changing requirement: mandatory participation in an apprenticeship program approved by the United States Department of Labor. Without it, a contractor will not be registered and will not be eligible to work on the vast majority of work subject to the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act.
