Overview

Dónall Breen joined GQ|Littler as an associate following the completion of his training contract at the Magic Circle law firm Linklaters LLP. During his time at Linklaters, Dónall saw practice in the employment, share schemes and incentives and pension law departments.

He works across all areas of employment law including advisory, litigation and transactional support. He has advised on high-value employee exits, disability and sickness absences, GDPR compliance and discrimination claims. Dónall has had articles published in the areas of legal technology, equal pay and shared services centres.

Having qualified as a lawyer in the UK, Dónall was admitted as a solicitor in the Republic of Ireland where he has advised dozens of international clients on various aspects of Irish employment law including discrimination, redundancies and wage/time issues. Dónall regularly advises clients on a variety of cross-jurisdictional issues, both in the UK and Ireland and the wider EMEA region.

Dónall’s particular interest is in harnessing the power of legal technology to assist clients in improving efficiency and accuracy in their HR departments. During his time at GQ|Littler, Dónall led the technology workstream when a major professional services firm were required to draft hundreds of individual settlement agreements in a matter of weeks. For his efforts, Dónall was part of the team announced as finalists in the Wesley Fastiff Award for Innovation and shortlisted for Legal Week’s Future of Legal Services Innovation Award.

Dónall completed his undergraduate law degree at Trinity College, Dublin and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Irish Employment Lawyers Association.
