This seminar will be on the major changes brought about by the Puerto Rico Labor Transformation and Flexibilization Act signed into law on January 26, 2017.

Geared toward human resources professionals, the discussion will cover the changes and impact this important piece of new legislation has on employers, including:

  • Grandfather clauses: employees hired before the Act's effective date
  • Wage and hour: changes to overtime, flexible arrangements, make-up of time not worked, and meal period
  • Responding to employee requests for changes in work shift, number of hours and/or places where work is to be performed
  • Vacation and sick leave accrual rates and minimum hour requirements
  • Right to participate in religious services and reasonable accommodation
  • Probationary employment periods
  • Revising policies and procedures: where to begin?

The speakers will provide legal analysis, practical recommendations and best practices for managing and implementing these changes.

The seminar will be conducted mostly in Spanish. Please let us know if you require an interpreter upon registration so that we can ensure the audio equipment is available.

Program: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m
