NASHVILLE, TN (December 17, 2014) – Joycelyn Stevenson, a shareholder in the Nashville office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been elected President-Elect of the Nashville Bar Association (NBA) for a one-year term commencing January 1, 2015. She will assume the role of President in January 2016.
“I am honored to continue to serve the NBA in a leadership capacity,” said Stevenson. “As I step into this role, I look forward to supporting the NBA’s mission of assisting our members in expanding their legal knowledge, advancing their career goals and giving back to the local legal community.”
The NBA President-Elect is elected by a majority of the current members of the NBA Board. Eligible candidates must have served for at least three years on the Board. Criteria such as contributions to the NBA, as well as individual merits, are considered during the voting process.
Stevenson’s practice at Littler focuses on labor and employment and business immigration law. In addition, she provides day-to-day counseling to large and small employers on personnel issues and routinely provides training to supervisors and managers on all aspects of employment law.
Highly active in the community, Stevenson is a member of a number of professional organizations, including Leadership Nashville, the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Napier-Looby Bar Association as well as the Society for Human Resources Management. Stevenson is also a former president of the Board of Directors for the Lawyers’ Association for Women – Marion Griffin Chapter. Stevenson’s volunteer work includes service on the Board of Directors of the Nashville Farmers’ Market and as the Immediate Past President of the Council on Aging of Greater Nashville.
Stevenson has been widely recognized for her career achievements by both the news media and industry organizations. Recently, she was listed among the 2014 “Best of the Bar” by the Nashville Business Journal, named a 2014 Rising Star for the Mid-South region by Super Lawyers and was a 2014 finalist for the Young Professionals Nashville and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Nashville Emerging Leader Award in Legal Services.
Stevenson received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and her B.A. from Howard University.
