Germany and the United States share political and economic ties as well as similar laws in many areas. However, when it comes to employment and labor relations, the laws can be quite different (e.g., Works Council requirements, and so-called “TUPE” rules governing the protection of employees impacted by the transfer of a business).

This program will cover the following topics:

  • Major issues of employment agreements
  • How to dismiss employees
  • Payroll issues/social security standards in Germany
  • Overview of collective labor law (trade unions, works council)
  • Restructuring business
  • Special employment agreements (labor leasing)
