This session will help you understand what can be expected from this season’s H1N1 virus and what employers can do to assess their risk and respond appropriately with defined steps. The CDC is encouraging employers and the public not to panic, but rather implement pandemic plans and to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Punching Employers' Clocks: Top Ten Ways Your Payroll and Timekeeping System Will Be Used Against You in Court
In this session, we will review the most common claims and how employers can defend against them. We will also review preventive steps employers can take to ensure their payroll and timekeeping systems are compliant with state and federal requirements.
Web 2.0 and the HR Department: Who Says that Social Networking is Just for Kids?
This discussion will include tips on how social networking can be used effectively to harness the workforce's energy. We'll cover how you can control the risks when implementing corporate social networking and how you should respond when social networking sites are used off-duty in way that impacts the workplace, i.e., to organize a union, to disparage a competitor or to trash a supervisor.
Big Changes for the ADA: The ADA Amendments Act
The ADAAA brought significant changes to the way employers respond to accommodation issues in the workplace. This session will provide an overview of the changes to the ADA and walk you though a series of hypothetical situations aimed at assisting you in issue spotting and developing processes for handling accommodation issues. Overlapping issues related to the FMLA and workers compensation also will be covered.
There is no charge for the program and a light breakfast will be provided. Registration will begin at 8:00 am; the program will start at 8:30 am and last until 12:30 pm.
