Shalayne Pillar focuses her practice on litigation defense, representing employers and members of management in employment-related disputes. She has experience defending lawsuits and administrative charges alleging violations of federal, state, and local employment laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. 1981, the Arizona Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Arizona’s Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as variety of employment-related torts.
Shalayne has experience bringing and defending unfair competition actions on behalf of employers, including claims for breach of contract, restrictive covenants (including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements), and defense of trade secret claims. Shalayne handles claims from beginning to end, and holds trial experience in both state and federal court.
Before joining Littler, Shalayne practiced a mix of employment and complex commercial litigation, where she also litigated claims related to trademark, trade dress, and copyright. During law school, Shalayne served as articles editor for the Washington University Law Review, clerked for the United State District Court of Eastern District of Missouri, and served as the student lead for the school’s Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Clinic.
