BOSTON (April 3, 2023) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added Valerie K. Jackson as of counsel in its Boston office. Jackson comes to Littler from the law firm Jackson Lewis P.C.
Jackson’s practice focuses on labor management relations, including obligations of employers in unionized workplaces and compliance with applicable state and federal laws. She also provides counsel on a broad range of matters that arise in the employer-employee relationship and defends companies against litigation in federal and state courts, including claims of discrimination. Jackson has particular experience representing clients in the healthcare and higher education sectors.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Valerie to the firm and to the Boston office,” said Michael Mankes, Littler’s Boston officing managing shareholder. “Massachusetts is a leading hub for the booming life sciences sector and is home to several top higher education institutions that support research and innovation in the region. Valerie’s deep experience serving healthcare and higher education clients, along with her wide-ranging knowledge of traditional labor relations issues, position her well to counsel local and national employers navigating complex labor and employment issues in their workplaces.”
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Jackson served as law fellow attorney for Northeastern University’s Office of General Counsel, where she provided counsel on issues relating to labor, employment and higher education law. During law school, she was a judicial intern for the U. S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and a legal intern in the Economic Crimes Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston. Jackson is active in the local legal community and is a member of the Boston Bar Foundation’s Society of Fellows Junior Fellow Steering Committee and a Board Member of Northeastern University School of Law’s Boston Regional Alumni Chapter.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to join Littler’s talented team in Boston and across the globe,” said Jackson. “Not only does Littler offer an incredible depth of resources through its innovative technology solutions and the reach of its global platform, but the strength of the firm’s industry teams will be particularly valuable as I continue to grow my practice.”
Jackson received her J.D. from Northeastern School of Law, her M.A. from Providence College and her B.A from the College of the Holy Cross.
