MIAMI (April 18, 2022) – Ryan Forrest, an attorney in the Miami office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been accepted into the Leadership Miami Class of 2022 and appointed to the Florida Bar Federal Court Practice Committee by its president.
“I congratulate Ryan on his selection into Leadership Miami and appointment to the Florida Bar Federal Court Practice Committee. His experience, knowledge and leadership skills make him the perfect choice,” said Lori Brown, Miami office managing shareholder.
Leadership Miami prepares Miami’s future leaders for success in professional spaces by cultivating civic engagement, identifying and addressing vital issues affecting Miami-Dade County, and establishing a network of professional relationships to ensure future collaboration with leaders in Miami-Dade and beyond. Through Leadership Miami, Forrest will participate in an intensive learning experience that focuses on community issues and leadership skills through lectures, seminars, small group discussions and a leadership curriculum developed in partnership with local universities.
In furtherance of his Leadership Miami duties, Forrest has partnered with ten other Leadership Miami participants to form a group called ALivE305. This group will work with His House Children’s Home in Miami Gardens, Florida to renovate a multi-use playground space and honor foster care families. In addition, Forrest and ALivE305 are engaging with several Miami-Dade County Commissioners, including Oliver G. Gilbert and Eileen Higgins, and with the Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, to institute an annual county-wide Foster Care Awareness day to ensure attention to the vital necessity of foster care in Miami-Dade County.
The Florida Federal Court Practice Committee serves as the Florida Bar’s liaison to the federal courts, Florida federal bar organizations, the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference and others interested in federal practice. During his two-year term, Forrest’s involvement on the committee will include conferring with members of the federal judiciary and bar members about proposed changes to the federal rules, including local rules for federal courts in Florida, and assisting in publishing the Guide to Judicial Practices in Florida’s Federal Courts, which describes the practices of individual federal judges in the Southern, Middle and Northern districts of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
At Littler, Forrest focuses his practice on high-risk litigation in federal and state courts. He has a wide range of experience litigating matters involving class actions, technology, financial services, administrative and international law. Prior to joining Littler, Forrest clerked for U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. While there, he handled civil and criminal cases at the trial level and worked on appellate matters concerning the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Forrest is barred in Florida, California and the District of Columbia.
Forrest earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.A. from Benedictine University.
