In April 2018, New York State adopted legislation directed at educating employees about workplace sexual harassment and reducing the incidence of harassment claims. The legislation creates new requirements that will apply to every employer in New York State, effective as of October 9, 2018. New York State has now issued guidance on the new requirements, including with respect to the requisite anti-sexual harassment policy and training. New York City passed similar legislation, portions of which went into effect as of September 6, 2018.
In this session, we will cover:
- The new sexual harassment policy/posting requirements
- The new sexual harassment training requirements
- Timelines and best practices for addressing these new requirements
Again, these laws affect all employers in New York State and so it is important that all HR and legal professionals become familiar with them, to ensure compliance.
