Year Two of the Pandemic – Returning to the Workplace and Dealing with the Wave of Legal Claims from COVID-19

Florida Friday Series

Friday, September 10, 2021

  • 6:30 AM - 7:15 AM PDT

Littler’s Florida offices present Florida Fridays, a monthly virtual gathering for business leaders, human resources professionals and in-house counsel to discuss new legal challenges and updates to Florida employment law. Littler attorneys will present local, state and federal updates, and an “open mic” Q&A clinic will follow.

The September session will explore two sides of the COVID-19 coin. First, as employers continue grappling with the resurgence of COVID transmissions in the context of Florida’s emphasis on limiting mandatory restrictions on the public, we will discuss how employers can continue on the path back to the office and keep the workforce safe as they move toward “business as usual.” Next, as we continue in the second year of the pandemic, employers still face wrongful termination claims, demands for sick leave, retaliation, workers’ compensation claims and unemployment claims, all stemming from decisions made in the name of safety. Littler lawyers will talk about the trends in cases and claims being raised and how to best position your organization to defend such claims.

Host: Sherril M. Colombo, Shareholder
Speakers: Nancy A. Johnson, Of Counsel and Natalie Storch, Associate
