Now that benefits have been available under Washington state's Paid Family and Medical Leave Act for over a year (one of the most generous paid family and medical leave programs in the nation), employers have learned how Washington PFMLA works and how it doesn't. During this program, Littler's Seattle office will review the lessons learned from a year under the new program, answer questions employers frequently encounter, and offer practical suggestions and recommended practices to prepare you for successful Washington PFMLA compliance. Topics covered will include the following:​

  • How does the Washington PFMLA interact with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and other leaves?
  • What are supplemental benefits, and what are the pros and cons of offering them to employees?
  • How does the appeal process work, and when should (and shouldn't) our organization participate in the appeal process?
  • Does Washington PFMLA apply to employees working remotely in Washington? How about employees who normally work in Washington but are temporarily working remotely in other states?
