Over the last several years, Virginia has enacted a variety of new wage and hour laws. On July 1, 2021, the state’s latest measure, the Virginia Overtime Wage Act goes into effect. While much of the new law is consistent with federal standards, there are important differences that Virginia employers need to be aware of – as well as a significant amount of uncertainty that could lead to additional liabilities. Littler’s local wage and hour practitioners present an overview of this new law and its implications.
