Prepare for Liftoff: Minimizing Employee Relations Risks as Construction Sites Rebound from the Pandemic Shutdown

Thursday, May 14, 2020

  • 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM PDT

The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis created a glut of new laws, executive orders, and related legal challenges for the construction industry. The net result is a new normal in which contractors will find employees armed with new rights and expectations, increased scrutiny by government agencies tasked with enforcement, and project owners who want their sites moving forward without unnecessary glitches, much less legal exposure. As restrictions are slowly lifted and construction activity resumes, contractors must be prepared with a plan to address these unprecedented operational and legal challenges.

Littler Shareholder Russell McEwan, a longtime labor and employment law practitioner who has guided the contracting community through significant periods of turmoil, including post-9/11, Superstorm Sandy and the Great Recession, will unpack the essentials of a post-pandemic workforce by identifying policies, practices, and strategies essential to minimizing employee relations risks and enabling contractors to focus on the substantive work that lies ahead.
