Going Up in Smoke? A Look at U.S. Immigration, Tax and Workplace Issues Arising from the Legalization of Marijuana in Canada

Wednesday, November 28, 2018

  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PST

On October 17, 2018, the Canada's Cannabis Act went into effect, legalizing the use and possession of marijuana, and creating uncertainty on both sides of the border. American businesses need to be aware of how the U.S./Canada law conflicts may affect employees engaged in cross-border business travel, and Canadian businesses, particularly those in the cannabis industry, are also anxious about what they can expect at the U.S./Canada border.

This webinar will review Canadian and U.S. cannabis laws and regulation as they intersect with immigration and mobility between the two countries, practical tax concerns for businesses in the industry, and the ramifications on these changing laws for employers with employees on either side of the border.
