Just four months after its May 25, 2018 effective date, the GDPR already is having global repercussions, especially for U.S. multinationals with a presence in the European Union. Many U.S. multinationals are still struggling to meet the GDPR’s complex compliance requirements. At the same time, complaints of alleged data projection violations are surging, and EU residents have become much more assertive of their data protection rights. Organizations with no EU presence are being asked to execute GDPR data processing agreements and are feeling compelled to update their online applicant and website privacy policies. And, GDPR already has inspired copycat legislation in California and Brazil.
This presentation will describe these GDPR-related trends, explain their implications, and provide practical recommendations for mitigating risks.
