With increased Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor audit activity and class action lawsuits on the rise, vigilant administrative and fiduciary oversight of employee benefit plans is critical. Employers must be cognizant of the exposure that arises from sponsoring retirement and health and welfare plans for their employees.
