Employment Law Update: Navigating a Changing Landscape

In the past year, a host of new state and federal laws have imposed additional requirements on Massachusetts employers. This legal update will guide employers through this new, and constantly changing, landscape. Topics include the following:

  • Review of the amendment to the federal overtime regulations, which makes it more difficult for a company to use the “exempt” classification
  • Review of the new federal Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 and how this new law impacts a company’s current non-disclosure agreements
  • Review of the anticipated amendments to the MA Equal Pay Act statute and how this will impact pay practices as well as its ability to defend against discriminatory pay claims
  • A round-up of new developments in Massachusetts employment law, including paid sick leave developments and how to document employee performance problems in light of recent Massachusetts case law
