At-will employment in the U.S. may suggest that the laws are easy to navigate. In reality, all businesses, from start-ups to multinationals, are challenged by continual changes to the law – at the city, state, and federal levels. To retain the advantages of flexibility that US employment law offers, employers need to be up-to-speed.

This session will cover key areas of New York Employment law, as well as recent changes and requirements for employers. Discussion topics will include:

  • The hiring process
  • Background checks
  • Restrictive covenants
  • Employee classification (whether employees are entitled to overtime)
  • Leaves of absence
  • Discrimination and sex harassment law
  • Independent contractors
  • Establishing workplace policies
  • Discipline and termination

Registration: 8:00 - 8:30 am

Program: 8:30 - 10:30 am
