In this article authored by Littler attorneys Sabrina Beldner, Jaffe Dickerson and John Lien, the annual office holiday party is looked at with a critical eye for inclusiveness. The Littler attorneys note that "as corporate America strives to embrace diversity and the many forms it takes in the workplace, many companies have yet to get their arms around how to make the annual office holiday party a welcoming event for their gay and lesbian employees. Although 94 percent of companies will sponsor some type of holiday party for their employees this year, fewer than half will host a function that is truly gay-friendly as opposed to gay-tolerant." Beldner, Dickerson and Lien offer tips to employers in order to ensure that gay and lesbian employees feel as welcome as possible at the company holiday party.
