LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (September 13, 2016) – The Long Island office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added Shareholder Ira Wincott and Associates Daniel Gomez-Sanchez and Sanjay Nair to its expanding roster. Their arrivals continue to bolster the office’s growth, following the addition of Shareholder Gary Glaser in July and several attorneys last year.
“The Long Island office has expanded at a steady pace, and we are pleased to add Ira, Daniel and Sanjay to our attorney ranks,” said John Bauer, office managing shareholder. “Ira’s unique experience as both a former union attorney and now a management side lawyer will be extremely valuable to clients. He understands the many distinct issues facing companies today and has been successful in representing clients on a wide range of labor and employment issues. We look forward to having him, in addition to up-and-coming lawyers Daniel and Sanjay, as part of our growing team in Long Island.”
For more than three decades, Wincott has represented and provided day-to-day advice to clients on a range of matters, including discrimination and harassment, ERISA and benefit plans, labor management relations, non-compete agreements, and wage and hour litigation. He has handled multiple facets of litigation in federal and state court, arbitrations, National Labor Relations Board matters and contract negotiations. His experience also extends to pensions, annuities and other funds, along with withdrawal liability litigation.
Prior to joining Littler, Wincott was a partner at Milman Labuda Law Group for three years, representing management in employment and labor matters. From 2005-2013, he was general counsel for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 342. He maintained his own practice at Waxman & Wincott for nearly 20 years. In addition to his vast experience in the retail and wholesale food industry, Ira represents many clients in the home healthcare industry, as well as manufacturing companies, retailers, car dealerships, school bus operators and property managers.
“Littler’s strong reputation and innovative approach to client service attracted me to the firm,” said Wincott. “I look forward to collaborating with the deep roster of lawyers in Long Island and across the firm to strengthen Littler’s position as the dominant labor and employment firm globally.”
Wincott earned his J.D. from New York Law School, cum laude, and his B.S. from the State University of New York at Albany.
Gomez-Sanchez joins the firm from Jackson Lewis, where he litigated cases in federal and state court for nearly four years, handling all aspects from inception through trial. He counsels employers on discrimination and harassment issues and assists federal contractors by preparing affirmative action plans and OFCCP audits. Gomez-Sanchez earned his J.D. from Touro Law Center, magna cum laude, and his B.A., cum laude, from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
