New York City’s Fair Workweek Law – Overview and Analysis of the New York’s City New Scheduling Requirement

This webinar will provide an in-depth overview of New York City’s “fair workweek” law. This new law, which applies to fast food and retail businesses, significantly limits employers’ abilities to adapt to day-to-day scheduling needs and to adjust schedules as needed. The webinar will not only provide an overview of the new prohibitions but will also provide ideas and strategies to adapt to the new scheduling landscape.

Topics to be addressed:

  • New scheduling restrictions, including: “clopening” prohibitions, the amount of time needed to provide employees with notice of scheduling changes, and penalties for adding or subtracting shifts without enough notice
  • Effect of collective bargaining agreements on the fair workweek law
  • New recordkeeping requirements
  • Overview of ways the fair workweek law could be enforced, potential challenges to the fair workweek law, and best practices for complying with the fair workweek law
