NEW YORK (October 3, 2019) – Terri M. Solomon, a shareholder in the New York office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been selected by Penn Law Alumni Society to receive the 2019 Alumni Award of Merit. She will be presented with the award today at the Alumni Awards ceremony and reception.
“We congratulate Terri on being selected for this distinguished award,” said Bruce Millman, New York office managing shareholder. “Aside from being an extraordinarily talented attorney, she has remained deeply committed to giving back to the community, as well as the legal profession. It comes as no surprise to us that such an honor would be bestowed on her.”
The Alumni Award of Merit is presented each year to a Penn Law alumnus/a who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievements throughout their career, while also providing outstanding service to the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Solomon has served as an officer and a dedicated member of the Penn Law Alumni Board of Managers, chair of the Post-Acceptance Committee and member of the Student Life Committee. She has chaired four law school class reunions and is a member of the Dean’s Council for Penn Law Women. Additionally, she has been committed to personally mentoring many students at the law school.
Solomon has practiced labor and employment law for 40 years. She is the co-founder of Littler’s New York office, co-chair of the Workplace Violence Prevention practice group, and a core member of four of the firm's other practice groups: Business Restructuring, Leaves of Absence and Disability Accommodation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Corporate Compliance and Ethics. She is also a member of the firm's Women's Leadership Initiative and the Associates Committee. Solomon serves as a volunteer mediator for the Southern District of New York and is a mediator on the Eastern District of New York Mediation Panel.
In her practice at Littler, Solomon represents both nonunion and unionized employers, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and not-for-profit institutions. A substantial portion of her practice involves counseling employers on ways to avoid litigation related to difficult business decisions. Additionally, Solomon regularly conducts training on topics such as preventing workplace violence, avoiding workplace harassment and becoming a more effective manager.
Solomon received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts. She has been named by The Best Lawyers in America© since 2012 and was awarded an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
