(May 2, 2016) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has appointed Kevin E. Griffith as office managing shareholder of its Columbus, Ohio, and Lexington, Kentucky, offices. Effective May 1, Griffith succeeds Michael Short, who has ably led the offices – Columbus since 2011 and Lexington since 2014 – and will continue his full-time practice at the firm.
“We thank Mike for his many years of dedication, leadership and hard work. He has done an exceptional job leading the firm’s efforts in Columbus and Lexington,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, Littler co-managing directors, in a joint statement. “Kevin’s impressive track record and established reputation in the legal industry at large will be valuable as he further enhances Littler’s presence in both regions.”
Griffith’s practice focuses on employment-related and business competition litigation. He has represented employers in hundreds of cases alleging employment discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, violations of no-competes, unlawful raiding, tortious interference with contract, trade secret misappropriation and in several seminal cases before the Ohio Supreme Court.
Griffith counsels clients on a non-litigation basis, recommending best practices for mass layoffs, executive terminations, internal investigations, codes of business conduct and ethics, mediation, other dispute resolution alternatives, business information security programs and additional complex employment issues. He also advises employers nationwide regarding legalized marijuana.
“I look forward to accepting the helm of the Columbus and Lexington offices,” said Griffith. “Over the past several years, Mike has strengthened the talent pools and client rosters in both offices. He’s an excellent, highly regarded lawyer. Mike has left big shoes to fill, but I look to build upon his contributions and successes to ensure each office continues to grow.”
Active in a number of professional organizations, Griffith has been recognized for his work by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America and Martindale-Hubbell. In 2016, he was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Columbus by Best Lawyers. Griffith also regularly contributes his thought leadership to Littler and national publications and is consistently quoted in the media.
He received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
